The Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink

The Prophecy of the Sisters

I never paid much attention to The Prophecy of the Sisters, mostly because it was never available in my library - so I never thought much about it. After emailing author Michelle Zink a few times, however, I decided to put in on hold at the library. Now, I know that was a good choice!

When the story begins, twins, Lia and Alice Milthrope, have just lost their father to a mysterious death. First their mother, now their father, all that's left is their ten-year-old brother Henry and their Aunt Virginia. Aside from her father's mysterious death, Lia knows things are different, for instance a mark is beginning to take shape on the inside of her wrist and Alice is no longer the same.

Soon, she discovers she and her twin are part of an ancient prophecy - The Prophecy of the Sisters. One is destined to be evil, the other good. One will bring chaos into this world, while the other should stop at nothing to prevent it. But who's who? It seems pretty obvious at first, but pretty soon, the story takes some unpredictable twists and turns.

While reading The Prophecy of the Sisters, I couldn't wait to turn to the next page and now that I've turned the last page, I can't wait to read the second installment in this series - The Guardian of the Gate. There are quite a few losses that are undertaken, but the edition I read featured a cover that suggested it - so, no surprises there!

  1. I've yet to read this one because of the mixed reviews I've seen, but perhaps I should give it a go after all! Great review :)
