Jessica Verday
467 pages

I had a hard time deciding how to rate the second book in Jessica Verday's trilogy. At times, I was distracted - enough to stop reading, and at others I was hooked, but I kept on reading because I really liked The Hollow (Book 1).
Abbey though she was going crazy, and left the city of Sleepy Hollow to stay with her great-aunt for a while. Soon, she comes back to Sleepy Hollow to attend the opening of a bridge at the same spot where Kristen died. After that day, she tries to return to a normal life - worrying about school, her perfumes, and hopefully opening a business - not someone who should be dead.
The Haunted explains many of the mysteries that were created in The Hollow. New dark and mysterious characters are introduced and the story takes a dangerous turn towards the last third of the book. Overall, I wasn't very disappointed, but I think the book could've had more of a pull to it. The ending, however, made me rate this one a four, because it provides the suspense that was lacked earlier. Sorry, its not a very long review, but this was all I could say about it!

The cover is pretty. I didn't like the first book (too long, too boring), so I don't think I'll be reading this one. But thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI haven't even read the first book, but it seems like an interesting trilogy to read. I've had so many books that were slow at times and fast in others that I wasn't sure how to review/rate, either. Thanks for the review! I'll have to check this serious out. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you on the cover. Its awesome!
