I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I am Number Four
Pittacus Lore
440 pages

I am Number Four was awesome. All I could say after turning the last page was "Whoa". There was humor, terror, blood and gore, happiness, and even sorrow (that nearly made me cry, which I don't usually do). Pittacus Lore, the pen-name used to author the book, is actually the greatest Elder of the now-lifeless planet of Lorien, set to warn us humans of upcoming alien invasions.

They look like us, talk like us, and try to live normal lives. They are stronger, faster, and the last Garde from the planet Lorien, which was destroyed, along with its inhabitants, by the Mogadorians years ago. Nine of them came to Earth. Three are dead. Now, they're coming after Number Four, who's now going by the name of John Smith. Fifteen year old John is always on the run, never living in one place for more than a few months. When he finds out Number Three is dead, he and his Cepan (Lorien caretaker) - Henri, set off once again, this time to Paradise, Ohio.

He starts living a normal life, and wants to settle in - once and for all. With the discovery of a few journalists who publish an article about a theory of the Mogadorians invading and taking over Earth, comes a turn of events in the life of John. Everything turns upside down, but John is determined not to leave Paradise, and to stand and fight.

I am Number Four is the first in a planned series of six books. A movie is already in the makes with the release sometime next year. It sort of reminds me of the Gone series (which I am a HUGE fan of!) by Michael Grant. The cover suits the book well, in my opinion. To me, it resembles one of John's Loric powers, and is a sort of sneak-peak at the suspense and action to come in the book.

  8. I didn't enjoy this one so much. It was such a standard sci-fi, and must of it had been done before. It did have a few redeeming qualities, though.
I didn't know there was going to be a movie! That should be interesting. Now that I think about it, I Am Number Four would make a movie, as it focuses on the action and romance.
