   Book two in Julie Kagawa's must-read Iron Fey series was as face-paced and thrilling as book one. Actually, I think I like The Iron Daughter more than The Iron King. Unlike many other YA novels, which drag on details, The Iron Daughter pulls you into the story from the very first page and continues to do so until the last page is turned. I couldn't put it down for long, and I read through the 359 pages in a little over a day.

   The story begins with Meghan Chase in the freezing land of Tir Na Nog, waiting to be summoned by Queen Mab, who will determine her faith. When the time comes for the Summer Court, under Lord Oberon (Meghan's father), to hand over the Scepter of the Seasons to the Winter Court(under Queen Mab), something goes wrong. Royal blood is shed, the Scepter is stolen, and without knowing the details, Queen Mab declares war over the Summer Court. As Mab and the court leave to prepare for the war, the Queen imprisons Meghan into an icicle, without listening to what she has to say.

   Meghan knows who is behind the sudden attack, but no one in the Winter Court (except Ash) will listen to the half-breed daughter of Lord Oberon. A turn of events bring Meghan, Puck, Grimalkin (who never misses out on an adventure of Meghan's), and an unlikely ally - Ironhorse, together as they journey to retrieve the Scepter from the Iron Fey, who grow stronger by the minute. The land of Nevernever is slowly diminishing, and Meghan is determined to stop the Iron Fey, no matter what the cost.
