Riley Blackthorne just needs a chance to prove herself – and that’s exactly what the demons are counting on…

Seventeen-year-old Riley, the only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper, Paul Blackthorne, has always dreamed of following in her father's footsteps. The good news is, with human society seriously disrupted by economic upheaval and Lucifer increasing the number of demons in all major cities, Atlanta’s local Trappers’ Guild needs all the help they can get – even from a girl. When she’s not keeping up with her homework or trying to manage her growing crush on fellow apprentice, Simon, Riley’s out saving distressed citizens from foul-mouthed little devils – Grade One Hellspawn only, of course, per the strict rules of the Guild. Life’s about as normal as can be for the average demon-trapping teen.

But then a Grade Five Geo-Fiend crashes Riley’s routine assignment at a library, jeopardizing her life and her chosen livelihood.  And, as if that wasn’t bad enough, sudden tragedy strikes the Trappers’ Guild, spinning Riley down a more dangerous path than she ever could have imagined. As her whole world crashes down around her, who can Riley trust with her heart – and her life?

When you throw a glance at this book, it screams "pick me up". I mean, just look at the gorgeous, urban-city cover and the title. Yup, a definite "pick me up" for me.

Looking at it on my bookshelf, I was a little intmidated by its length. Not only is it long, but the font is small too. But when I was about 50 or so pages in, things changed. I liked that it was long and the font small - I didn't want it to end.

I liked how Riley's horrible attitude changed as I continued through the story. And I liked how Denver Beck tried his best to take care of her, like the big brother she never had, even if they fought most of the time. By the time I finished the book, I actually felt a surge of hope for the characters in the future, rundown city of Atlanta.

I found the storyline very intriguing - the blurb in the back of the book didn't say much, but it was enough to tune my interest.

While most girls are busy worrying about prom and college, Riley's worrying about how she'll pay the monthly rent and when thr next demon will claim her soul. Riley Blackthorne is the daughter of the legendary Paul Blackthorne, master demon trapper. All she wants is to follow in her father's footsteps and become a master trapper just like him. But no female has ever accomplished that feat, and some of the trappers will stop at nothing to keep it that way.

Keeping her apprentice trapper liscense is the least of Riley's worries, however, when a tragedy strikes her life. And now, the demon's are getting smarter - teaming up and working together, something they shouldn't be capable of.

And they know her by her name. Riley Blackthorne. Something's up, and Riley is just as clueless as the reader.

So... what are you waiting for? Open a new browser and buy yourself a copy, I know I can't wait for the second book ;). The Demon Trapper's Daughter is stunning, unputdownable, and a riveting must read.

-Would I recommend this to anyone? Probably ages 14 and up
-Is there a second book? Yes
-Will I be looking forward to book two? Definitely!

Like I said above, the cover screams "pick me up". I like the bright red, the urban background, and the girl's clothes.

  17. This book totally says Pike me up and read me. I loved it and I was actually glad it was a long story because the whole story line was amazing and not rushed. Riley was awesome she kicked serious demon butt and I'm glad she became a demon trapper and stuck with it even after her dad died. I loved Beck right from the start. Even though he goofed off most of the time Beck was very reliable especially to Riley. They are such a perfect couple they just have to figure that out themselves. I can't wait to read Soul Thief.
