From bestselling, Printz Award-winning author Libba Bray, the story of a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes on a desert island.

Teen beauty queens. A "Lost"-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

Beauty Queens stranded on an island. That one sentence was enough for me to scout out this book. Libba Bray's latest is hilarious, silly and everything in between.

What I loved most about Beauty Queens was the very different personalities of each contestant. I'd have to say Adina was my favorite, but each girl had their special part, and each stood out differently in my mind. In the beginning the beauty queens weren't exactly likeable, but it was nice to watch them mature and finally see things the way they should be seen.

Though the storyline was sort of silly, I had a fun time reading. It was a break from all the serious, heart-pounding dystopia and action I've been reading. The commercial breaks in between chapters were downright hilarious. Yet hidden beneath the funny was a little bit of truth. You've got to read it to know what I mean.

If you're looking for the perfect book to take with you to cool off at the beach, Beauty Queens should definitely make your list.

The synopsis was very intriguing, but the cover wasn't. I was reluctant to even learn more about it after seeing it! However, the cover is completely relevant to the story, so I guess it isn't that bad :D
