The Iron Fey: The Iron King, The Iron Daughter, The Iron Queen

My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn.
I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her.
My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…
It felt good to step into the land of the Nevernever after a long time. And finally getting a chance to see inside the mind of the Winter Prince was just that much more. Julie Kagawa's descriptive prose and spellbinding storytelling is astounding.
I'm pretty sure that The Iron Knight amounts to my favorite installment in The Iron Fey series. Originally thought to be a trilogy, The Iron Knight is narrated through the viewpoint of Ash, the last prince of the Unseelie Court. I loved the story, I loved the ending, and of course, I loved the characters. Some of the fey we never thought to see will make surprise appearances as well. But Julie Kagawa's latest, unlike the others, didn't feature war and triumph, this was about Ash, finding himself and partaking in a journey that no one has completed and emerged alive. I love a good adventure - venturing to unknown lands with a group of 'friends' (yes, this includes Puck) and taking part in tests of endurance.
The tension between Puck and Ash is palpable in every step of their journey. Ash is no mood to set aside their oath - for oaths in the Nevernever are no small thing. Add a gray cat we're all very fond of and a few others and we've got a novel you must pick up. Tension, edge of your seat suspense, and a sprinkle of well-placed humor, this is one novel you just can't miss. The Iron Knight is a stunning, beautifully-written conclusion to Julie Kagawa's famed The Iron Fey series.

I've yet to finish this series, but now I really think I should! :) Glad to hear The Iron Knight is just as good as the other installments!
ReplyDeleteI agree--I really enjoyed Ash's voice (once I got used to it not being Meagan's eyes I was seeing things through) and his ongoing battles with Puck were awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm literally counting the days untill I read this! With how things ended in The Iron Queen I'm curious to read how it all ends. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI've yet to finish this series, but now I really think I should! :) Glad to hear The Iron Knight is just as good as the other installments!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, this is my favorite as well! I LOVED The Iron Knight soooo much!
ReplyDeleteI've only read The Iron King, and there were some things about the book. I didn't like Meghan because she felt so inept most of the time. And I was not a fan of the instalove thing between her and Ash. I've been debating about whether or not to continue the series. I do have all of the books, but I'm worried about Meghan's character growth and whether or not her attraction to Ash will gain some sort of substance over time.
ReplyDeleteI loved it too! But even though I'm team Ash I kind of fell in love with Puck in this one and I want one from his POV!
ReplyDeleteHello!

Oh my gosh, I LOVED this book too! :) It just made me love Ash impossibly more than I already did, and it made me think Julie Kagawa is a GENIUS impossibly more that I already did!
ReplyDeleteAwesome review, Hasfah! I'm SO glad you liked it! :)
I still need to read this series! I must get to it sometime because I always hear great things. I'm intrigued that this one focuses on the Winter Prince - I've heard many a thing about him!
ReplyDeleteMan, I still need to read this series. I keep hearing about the awesomeness that's Ash and always feel like I'm missing out :(
ReplyDeleteI'm still on the fence about reading this series, but with every book released, I read good thing. So...maybe it's time?
ReplyDeleteGreat review.
I was more than ready to read the last book in this series. I loved the first three and I must say I also loved The Iron Knight. My favorite was getting into Ash's head. On the outside he is calm and in control but getting a sense of who he really is was really interesting. Glad to see you liked it.
ReplyDeletePS I feel the same way about the cover like the front a lot but not the back.
I loved this book so much and I love your website!
ReplyDeleteI just finished this and I loved it! I thought it was a fantastic way to end this series. And yes this cover is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have this one sitting and waiting to be read!
ReplyDeleteThis was my favorite book of the bunch. Absolutely amazing. Ash was such a great narrator. Loved this book!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely review and yes I agree this book was such a joy to read from Ash's POV. I also got a ARC from the publisher and was so pleased how the series fell together so nicely in the end. I will so miss reading about Ash, Puck and Meghan's tales.

I just finished this a few weeks ago and it was probably my fave either this one or the iron queen! I loved when he was at the trials of his future and he had a son! I was like OMG
