Miranda wakes up alone on a park bench with no memory. In her panic, she releases a mysterious energy that incites pure terror in everyone around her. Except Peter, a boy who isn't at all surprised by Miranda's shocking ability.
Left with no choice but to trust this stranger, Miranda discovers she was trained to be a weapon and is part of an elite force of genetically-altered teens who possess flawless combat skills and powers strong enough to destroy a city. But adjusting to her old life isn't easy--especially with Noah, the boyfriend she can't remember loving. Then Miranda uncovers a dark truth that sets her team on the run. Suddenly her past doesn't seem to matter...when there may not be a future.
Dan Krokos' debut is a tour-de-force of non-stop action that will leave readers begging for the next book in this bold and powerful new series.
With unstoppable action and thrilling suspense, False Memory by Dan Krokos is a treat. The fast-paced plot and high-stakes danger will leave you breathless and on the edge of your seat. The cover caught my attention from the start - particularly the intriguing, sci-fi flare and depth. And luckily for me, the synopsis was just as interesting.
Dan Krokos's debut opens with a terriying bang - one that will leave readers curious and terrified at the inevitable damage caused by a clueless protagonist. As the story progresses, and information begins to peice together, the world will build around you, word by word, until you're engrossed. Deep enough that the danger pounds in time to your pulse.
The main character is one to root for. Remembering who she is with phantoms of memories isn't an easy task, but Miranda is strong. Strong, fast, and well - she knows some awesome moves. And it isn't just Miranda. Her teammates - Olive, Peter, and Noah - were all lovable and gave the story that extra, softer depth it needed. They were unique enough that each of them stood out in their own ways.
The danger was everywhere. The plot kept twisting and turning. When you think you have one thing figured out, it turns out to be something else. But what was most enjoyable about False Memory was the story itself - it's unlike anything else out there. It's thrilling. It's pulse-pounding. It's an overall enjoyable read that you won't want to miss.
