Hi everyone! Asma, here! Remember how I reviewed Ellen Oh's awesome debut - PROPHECY? I loved it. You can read my full review here. Today, I've got an interview with the author!
Asma: What is your favorite part in Prophecy?
Ellen Oh: I have many favorite parts, but my absolute favorite is the water dragon! I think I won't go into too much detail so we can surprise our readers! ;o)
Asma: Who is your favorite character in Prophecy?
Ellen Oh: Kira has to be my favorite. I love that girl. But I also admit to having a very soft spot for Jindo. I feel like if I can ever make a commitment to have a dog, I'd want a Jindo.
Asma: Have you ever wanted to learn how to fight with a sword?
Ellen Oh: Nope! My husband won't let me. He says I'm more likely to hurt myself rather than anyone else! But whenever there is a strange sound in the middle of the night, I grab my trustee Yankees baseball bat and head down like I'm Conan the barbarian. Yes, notice I said I go down. My husband is usually still snoring.
Asma: What is your favorite fantasy book? And have you ever wished you were part of it?
Ellen Oh: This is like a nearly impossible question to answer. Well if I have to pick one, I'll say the Lord of the Rings, because even though they break that up into 4 books (w/ the hobbit) technically the other 3 are 1 book and the Hobbit is a prequel so I can get away with calling it my favorite book! Have I ever wished I was part of it? Only to the extent that I could have been in the movies, ogling Viggo Mortenson and Orlando Bloom.
Asma: What is the weirdest food you've ever eaten?
Ellen Oh: Natto. (shudder) It is this awful fermented soybeans over rice Japanese dish that is an acquired taste for most people. My parents and my sister used to love the stuff and eat it all the time. The smell alone used to send me screaming out of the room. But they would force me to at least taste it and that was just so gross. It is slimy and tastes just like it smells. Apparently it is really really good for you. That's probably why I don't like it!
Asma: What is the coolest place you've ever been to?
Ellen Oh: Spain - La Manga in the southern coast of Spain. Possibly the most amazing and beautiful place in the world (plus the best food). It's a strip of land which separates the Mediterranean Sea from Mar Menor which is a huge lagoon. You could go to the Mediterranean side and sit at an ocean side beach filled with white sand. Then you could cross the highway and spend the rest of the day in the most amazing blue water lagoon. It was truly a sensational place to be.
Asma: Have you ever wished for a book to be turned into a movie?
Ellen Oh: Yes, my book!!! :o) Ok it is probably not cool to say that but I'm just being honest here! When I wrote Prophecy, it came to me like a movie that played solely in my head. I would just love to actually see it become a movie for everyone else to see also!
Thanks to Ellen Oh, I have swag for one lucky winner! Just leave a comment about why YOU want to read PROPHECY by next Thursday (1/24), and I'll choose a winner on Friday. Good luck!

I don't want it. I NEED IT! Do I STILL have to tell you why I NEED it? I'm just staring at the cover and I'm already hooked and mystified!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds so ridiculously awesome. I'd love to win it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds amazing!!! I actually got it for review, but then it expired before I could make the time for it :( So thanks for the giveaway!! :)
ReplyDeleteI want to read it because I adore fantasy. This sounds sooo good. And the interview was so awesome and interesting! :)
ReplyDeleteLaying on the pressure there. I love reading about strong heroines. For Kira to have power even more than that of a prince is amazing. Men need her. Not the other way around. I also love that she's kicking everyone's... butt while she's on her journey. Thanks for the giveaway and interview!
ReplyDeleteI love the plot and idea this author put into the book to make a great story! I can't wait to get this book!!! ~Su

I want to read Prophecy because I've read oodles of great reviews for it, and I'm always up for an awesome female-centric fantasy (and the asian elements just sweeten the deal).
