Interview with Courtney Allison Moulton — Author of Angelfire

Posted by on January 13, 2011

The 2011 Debut Author Challenge is the first challenge I’m participating in. Along with reading many YA debuts, I also have some debut author interviews in store.

Yesterday, I flipped over the last digital page of Angelfire. I have to say, it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. You can read more about what I thought in my review, right now, its time to learn more about the author behind the book :)

IceyBooks: Describe Angelfire in 7-9 words.
Courtney Allison Moulton: A kickass girl and Guardian guy kill reapers!

IB: Where did you find the inspiration for Angelfire?

CAM: I love quirky, but strong heroines who have these enormous supernatural destinies, like Sailor Moon and Buffy, and I wanted to create my own. Ellie is Angelfire is a lot like Sailor Moon in that she is a bit of a reluctant heroine at first, but she really steps up to the plate when she
needs to.

IB: If you weren’t an author what would you have been?

CAM: An atomic bomb tester (Wow, that’s pretty…interesting!)

IB: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
CAM: I’m 24, I write stuff, I photograph stuff, I draw stuff, I ride horses,
and I try to keep my thieving cat from stealing the bookmarks out of my

IB: What’s your favorite hobby (besides reading and writing)?

CAM: Riding horses!

IB: What was your favorite (or most exciting) part about getting published?

CAM: Getting to share my stories with the world finally.

IB: What’s your favorite color, would you dye your hair that same color? :D

CAM: I love blue but I wouldn’t dye my hair that color.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me and my readers a little about yourself, Courtney! Courtney’s debut novel Angelfire will be released on 2/15/11 from HarperTeen.
