IceyPick — Where are your entries?

As many of you know, I host the monthly feature, IceyPick, in which I give a certain book ‘four weeks of fame’. Although I’ve been told it’s a good idea, I haven’t been getting as many participants as I hoped to receive.

There is no pre-reading requirement to do any of the activites, so basically anyone can participate.

Just in case you’re not aware of how it works, here’s the lowdown:

Week 1 – Answer it – Answer the question (which relates to the book) on your blog, making sure to include the IceyPick graphic (code supplied) and link the post.

Week 2 – Redesign it – Redesign the cover (you will not be judged by it) on your blog, making sure to include the IceyPick graphic (code supplied) and link the post.

Week 3 – Blurb it – Write a blurb based on the cover, a cover review, or why you’re excited to read the book. It’s also your chance to judge a book by its cover! Be sure to include the graphic and link your post.

Week 4 – Win it – I will post an interview with the author (if possible), or feature the trailer, and have a giveaway for those who completed all (or one) of the above. Sometimes the books are signed, sometimes I give away more than one book and maybe even swag.

So… I want to know: is there any particular reason why YOU don’t participate? I’m open to any and all suggestions! And for those of you who DO participate, would you be able to spread the word?

Also: I will be featuring Victoria Schwab’s THE NEAR WITCH for August’s IceyPick! So be sure to swing by August 1st :)

I’m changing IceyPick, because of some insight from a few blogging friends: starting in August, you can participate by simply leaving a comment, no blog posting required!

Participation depends entirely on how much people want the books – unless I really, really, really want a book, I'm not going to do much extra for a chance to win it.

I don't participate because so far these haven't been books I wanted (since I already have a copy of Across the Universe :) ). That I have to post the activities on my blog is also a drawback, because I hate having to post extra stuff on there (but by nature of the feature, there's not really much way around this…).

I do think that this is a very creative idea, though. Just give it some time to catch on.

I am scared away by re-designing the cover. I have no idea how to do something like that.

I think there's too much work involved. With all the giveaways out there (and with how busy I am) I would only do extra work if it's for a HUGE giveaway or the chances are really good. Since you changed it to only leaving a comment and not posting on your blog, then that helps. I wouldn't know how to do redesign a cover, but writing a blurb is something that might be fun.
