Waiting on Wednesday (48) — The Book of Wonders by Jasmine Richards

Posted by on August 10, 2011
“Waiting On” Wednesday spotlights upcoming releases that everyone’s excited about (created by Jill at Breaking The Spine.)

Zardi loves to hear stories about magical beings, such as djinnis and sorcerers, long banned from the kingdom of Arribitha. But anyone caught whispering of their powers or longing for forbidden magic will feel the rage of the sultan—a terrifying tyrant who, even with his eyes closed, can see all.

When Zardi’s own beloved sister is captured by the evil ruler, Zardi knows that she must risk everything to rescue her. In the deep of night, Zardi, now disguised as a boy, and her best friend, Rhidan, flee toward the docks. There they join with an unlikely crew of sailors led by the infamous Captain Sinbad and head out to sea. Soon thrust into strange and wondrous territory, Zardi and Rhidan pursue a seemingly impossible mission: to bring magic back to Arribitha and defeat the sultan once and for all.

Jasmine Richards’s fascinating tale—loosely based on the classic The Arabian Nights—will enchant readers of all ages who crave magic, adventure, and a fantastical new world!

The Book of Wonders is expected to be released on January 17th, 2012 by HarperCollins.

P.S. Forgive My Fins is good enough, but not great (at least for me). I hope you enjoy Sweet Venom. I'm considering it for my TBR also.

  4. Hi Hafsah @ IceyBooks, thanks for featuring my book. I've been smiling all day. Lots of people were asking if Book of Wonders is MG – it is indeed. This is my first novel and I am ridiculously excited and pleased that so many people liked the look of the cover and sound of the synopsis. ARCS came in recently and so I'm sure Harper Collins will be sending these out to reviewers soon but get touch if you have difficulty getting one.
