Waiting on Wednesday (77) — Elemental by Anthony John

“Waiting On” Wednesday spotlights upcoming releases that everyone’s excited about (created by Jill at Breaking The Spine.)

Elemental

A lost colony is reborn in this heart-pounding fantasy adventure set in the near future . . .

Sixteen-year-old Thomas has always been an outsider. The first child born without the power of an Element—earth, water, wind or fire—he has little to offer his tiny, remote Outer Banks colony. Or so the Guardians would have him believe.

In the wake of an unforeseen storm, desperate pirates kidnap the Guardians, intent on claiming the island as their own. Caught between the plague-ridden mainland and the advancing pirates, Thomas and his friends fight for survival in the battered remains of a mysterious abandoned settlement. But the secrets they unearth will turn Thomas’ world upside-down, and bring to light not only a treacherous past but also a future more dangerous than he can possibly imagine.

ELEMENTAL will be released on November 8th, 2012 by Dial.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

I planned for this one to be my WoW for next week, lol. :P
I totally can't wait for this. The story sounds totally awesome and being a fan of A:TLA, I can't wait to try this out. We don't get to see many stories like this in YA (well, at least I don't).

    Great pick!

Look at that cool cover! Very interesting–almost Divergent-y in the spherical design but I like it. This one sounds really intriguing. Great pick!

Antony John and Fantasy?? This is a new one for me. Just finished Thou Shalt Not Road Trip, and enjoyed it. He's a great writer — especially characters — so this one is definitely on my list. Thanks!

I'm OVER THE MOON about this one since it is set on NC's Outer Banks, and that's practically my backyard. Seriously, this is probably in my top three books I'm excited for this year based solely on the genre + setting. Well, and the author, of course. Great pick.

I just finished reading his book Five Flavors of Dumb, and it was okay. But I'm REALLY excited about this one! Reminds me a little of the Avatar: Last Airbender setting. A little bit.

    Great pick!
