Two years ago today, I sat down to an empty, lonely blog and wrote up my first post of less than three lines. Looking back now, I can only think of how lame that post is.
But then, I thought, will anyone read it?
-700 posts later,
-more than 200,000 pageviews later,
-more than 2,000 blog and Twitter followers later,
-and several blog designs later,
I have an answer.
I don’t know.
I’ll never know if anyone read that post, but I do know, since that lonely post, I have gotten readers from around world who stop by everyday, regardless of what I post.
This year was much different than the last. I lost a close friend. I was accused of something I didn’t do. I befriended some incredible people – bloggers and authors who my life would be incomplete without. I went to my first bookish event. I wrote the longest manuscript of my life.
Did I ever imagine any of this when I wrote those three lines? No. No, I didn’t.
I want to thank everyone. Everyone who ever stopped by my blog, left me a comment, however small. I want to thank everyone on Twitter whoever @-replied my tweets and made it seem like I wasn’t just speaking to myself.
But I also want to thank a few special people who made my world (even outside of blogging) blossom again. Ashelynn, who’s there for me every single day, who I can talk to whenever I feel down, or up, or in between. There are no words to describe how much you’ve changed my life. How it feels to know I have you to turn to. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.
To Britta, who co-hosts the Standalone Reading Challenge with me. The challenge is a lot of work, yet you do all the work, and make me snort with laughter whenever we chat.
To HD and Melina, both of whom I finally got to meet at ALA Midwinter, early this year (can you believe it was this year? It seems like ages ago), for offering me a friendship when I had none.
To Lisa, who understands when no one else does. Who supports my blog, my blog designs, and me, no matter what. Who bought me more books than I’ve ever bought in my life. I heart you.
To Kit Grindstaff, who I wasn’t sure would respond to that Goodreads message I sent months ago. Who is more than just a debut author I revealed a cover for. Thank you.
And last, but not least, to everyone who has ever purchased a blog design from me. For always saying how incredible you think my work is, for raving about my designs, and for choosing me in the first place, when there were hundreds of other designers to choose from. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
