Interview with Jessica Shirvington – Author of the EMBRACE Series PLUS Giveaway!

Posted by on March 1, 2013

The wait for EMBLAZE is almost (FINALLY) over! The third book in the incredible EMBRACE series from Sourcebooks hit stores March 5th, 2013 and I can’t wait (read my review of EMBRACE and ENTICE). And today, I’m excited to have the author for an interview and a giveaway! Read on!

IceyBooks: Pitch the EMBRACE series in a tweet.

Embrace (Embrace, #1)Jessica Shirvington: Consequence haunts every choice and love could cost it all! #EmbraceSeries

IceyBooks: What inspired you to weave a tale with angels?

Jessica Shirvington: I wanted to work with some biblical folklore and loved the idea of entwining the story with the angelic hierarchy. The rest flowed from there!

IceyBooks: Do you have a favorite line that was removed from the original draft of EMBLAZE?

Jessica Shirvington: No I don’t. I am so lucky to have a brilliant relationship with my editors and publishers. If I really love a line they agree with me that there is a reason it should stay in.

IceyBooks: I, for one, am absolutely in love with the US covers for your series. What were your first thoughts when you saw it for the first time?

Jessica Shirvington: I have to agree with you. I adore the U.S covers. I think they encapsulate the tone of the series so so well!

Entice (The Violet Eden Chapters, # 2)IceyBooks: Give us the three:
-Places you would love to visit

Jessica Shirvington:
Hawaii
Prague
Tokyo

-Books you can’t wait to read

Jessica Shirvington:
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane – Neil Gaiman
Gameboard of The Gods – Richelle Mead
Through The Evernight – Veronica Rossi (reading it now)

-Types of food you’re craving right now

Jessica Shirvington:

Thanks so much for having me!

Jessica Shirvington is the author of THE VIOLET EDEN CHAPTERS also known as THE EMBRACE SERIES. An entrepreneur, author, and mother living in Sydney, Australia, Jessica is also a 2011 finalist for Cosmopolitan’s annual Fun, Fearless Female Award. She’s also one of the lucky few who met the love of her life at age seventeen: Matt Shirvington, a former Olympian and current sports broadcaster for FOXTEL and Sky News. Married for almost eleven years with two beautiful daughters, Sienna and Winter, Jessica knows her early age romance and its longevity has definitely contributed to how she tackles relationships in her YA novels. Previously, she founded a coffee distribution company, Stella Imports, in London, and before that was involved in the management of restaurants Fuel Bistro and MG Garage in Sydney. Jessica is now a full-time novelist and living her dream.

Emblaze (The Voilet Eden Chapters, #3)

Once again Violet Eden faces an impossible choice … and the consequences are unimaginable.

Violet has come to terms with the fact that being part angel, part human, means her life will never be as it was.

Now Violet has something Phoenix – the exiled angel who betrayed her – will do anything for, and she has no intention of letting it fall into his hands. The only problem is that he has something she needs too.

Not afraid to raise the stakes, Phoenix seemingly holds all the power, always one step ahead. And when he puts the final pieces of the prophecy together, it doesn’t take him long to realise exactly who he needs in order to open the gates of Hell.

With the help of surprising new allies, ancient prophecies are deciphered, a destination set and, after a shattering confrontation with her father, Violet leaves for the islands of Greece without knowing if she will have a home to return to…

Now for the giveaway! Thanks to Sourcebooks, one lucky US/Canada reader will receive a hardcover of EMBLAZE! Just fill out the Rafflecopter below. Good luck!

  1. Great interview! I can't wait to read The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Gaiman, too. I have Embrace but I haven't read it yet, hopefully soon though :)
