ONE by Leigh Ann Kopans Cover Reveal and Giveaway

Posted by on March 4, 2013

One of my good friends, Leigh Ann Kopans, has a young adult novel debuting in June. ONE, follows a teen with only half a superpower – in a world where most people are either Supers or Normals. She’s a freak, so to speak. I’m really excited for her book to be out in the wild, and I’m even MORE excited to reveal her gorgeous cover art! Without further ado, here’s the synopsis. Scroll down to check out the cover and enter to win a copy of her debut – open internationally!

Most nights, and some mornings before sunrise, I sneak to the back of the shed and I practice. I push myself off the ground, telling my body to go weightless, and hover. An inch, two, six, a foot. I stay there for seconds, then minutes.

I can’t generate enough tension between my body and the air to take a step – can’t even make myself drift. I’d give anything just to be able to float along like a freaking ghost.

But I’m just a One.

When having two powers makes you a Super and having none makes you a Normal, having only one makes you a sad half-superpowered freak.

It makes you a One.

Sixteen-year-old Merrin Grey would love to be able to fly – too bad all she can do is hover.

If she could just land an internship at the Biotech Hub, she might finally figure out how to fix herself. She busts her butt in AP Chem and salivates over the Hub’s research on the manifestation of superpowers, all in hopes of boosting her chances.

Then she meets Elias VanDyne, another One, and all her carefully crafted plans fly out the window. Literally. When the two of them touch, their Ones combine to make them fly, and when they’re not soaring over the Nebraska cornfields, they’re busy falling for each other.

Merrin’s mad chemistry skills land her a spot on the Hub’s internship short list, but as she gets closer to the life she always wanted, she discovers that the Hub’s purpose is more sinister than it has always seemed. Now it’s up to her to decide if it’s more important to fly solo, or to save everything – and everyone – she loves.

Raised on comic books and classic novels, Leigh Ann developed an early love of science fiction and literature. After earning degrees in Sociology and Hebrew, she went on to become a rabbi at The Ohio State University. Surrounded by college students, she found her niche writing science fiction and romance for teens.

Leigh Ann, her husband, and four children live in Columbus, Ohio, which sadly lacks superheroes but does have the best football and fabulous ice cream.

  1. Beautiful cover. I love the DNA gene wings in the background and the sky! The sky is so important to this book and I'm so happy it is highlighted <3 CONGRATS LEIGH ANN!!!!

  2. This cover is gorgeous! I pulled it up on my computer and all my students started oohing and aahing over it, which turned into a quick book talk. Many of them are very interested in reading the book now. :)

    1. Unoriginality, I am repeating all the posts above by saying that the cover is extremely beautiful, but it is indeed a cover one cannot help but to stare and admire. The plot of the novel sounds, with all honesty, very interesting and refreshing. Congratulations on the debut! Am certainly looking forward to reading it!

    1. You're welcome. I also write & self-publish and I have a section on my site where I highlight other self-published books that I come across. They're books I have either read or where the cover & blurb capture me and scream 'high quality' as yours has! I'd be very happy if you'd consent to me adding yours to the list. Please take a look and if you're interested, just drop me a line through the site or reply on here. ( :)

  3. Wow, this really is a stunning cover! I love everything about it – especially how you scroll down and the door kind of pops out at you and then you realize she's not outside but rather the sky behind her is actually wallpaper (that's peeling down at the top, even!). And I love the connect-the-dots type wings behind her too. This is really great, very, very nice. WOW! [uh, yeah, also, the book looks great too!!!! look forward to reading it ;)]
