THE POLARIS UPRISING by Jennifer Ibarra Cover Reveal and Giveaway

Posted by on June 11, 2013

Jennifer Ibarra is one of the sweetest people I know. I recently had the honor of redesigning her website and the cover for her debut novel, THE POLARIS UPRISING. It was fun because we both have similar tastes – needless to say, I’m really excited to share it with you all, and Jennifer is too!

In less than seven years, eighteen-year old Ryla Jensen will succeed her father as the leader of Neress, a nation where all citizens are taken care of from the moment they’re born. Fed, clothed, educated, and sheltered, every need of theirs is met.

The only price they pay is their free will.

Groomed since childhood to take on a role she’s not even sure she wants, Ryla’s only escape from the pressures of duty is her sister, Alanna. But when her eyes are opened to the oppressive regime her father has built, she begins to question everything she’s set to inherit—and finds herself at odds with her sister’s blind loyalty to their father.

Torn between loyalty to her family and the fight for freedom, Ryla must make the ultimate choice and risk losing the person she loves most in the world: Alanna.

I fell in love with words before I could even read. Love the sound of them, the way they look on the page, the infinite number of ways you can put them together to form a single sentence a paragraph — or an entire story.

When I’m not writing or reading, I do marketing for a tech company, cook and bake, run, run, run (and run some more), follow celebrity gossip, and volunteer and raise money for my favorite causes.

And now for the cover! What do you think? I had the most fun with the colors – deep and rich.

  1. That cover is GORGEOUS, Hafsah! I especially love the colors you used, as well as the font for the title. If I could have a book cover crush, this would be a new one! While this sort of has a similar premise to most dystopian novels, the 'taken care of since birth' concept is something I haven't read before. I'm curious to see how she pulls it off! Either way, it sounds fantastic!

  2. I love the bright burning star and the dark color of the cover the contrast between the two makes it stand out. This book sounds like it's going to an awesome 2013 YA Debut, I can't wait to read Jennifer's book!!

  3. This looks great! Love that cover, too ; ) I always wonder if the author has any life experience that they put into their books? Thanks for sharing with us and Thanks for the giveaway!
