New Mexico: Win FATED by Alyson Noel in the Reading Road Trip

It’s time to spotlight New Mexico, with its rolling rose-colored desserts and high, snow-capped peaks,  as part of the Reading Road Trip! And I’ve got the perfect book for you. Sadly, I couldn’t get Texas, where I live, or California/Florida, where I’ve lived. Being a host means sacrificing for the greater good ;)

There are several novels that take place in New Mexico, but one of the most well-known would be Alyson Noel’s FATED – which I’m offering up to one luck US winner! Here’s a little bit about the book.

Fated (Soul Seekers, #1)

Strange things are happening to Daire Santos. Crows mock her, glowing people stalk her, time stops without warning, and a beautiful boy with unearthly blue eyes haunts all her dreams. Fearing for her daughter’s sanity, Daire’s mother sends her to live with the grandmother she’s never met. A woman who recognizes the visions for what they truly are—the call to her destiny as a Soul Seeker—one who can navigate the worlds between the living and dead.

There on the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico, Daire sets out to harness her mystical powers. But it’s when she meets Dace, the boy from her dreams, that her whole world is shaken to its core. Now Daire is forced to discover if Dace is the one guy she’s meant to be with…or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy

Well, I haven't ever been to America! But it sounds like a fabulous place. The word “Mexico” tends to make me think of tacos…but I know that's not necessarily true. ;)

Yes I've visited New Mexico. I've been to Hobbs with the best burrito food truck I've tasted and Carlsbad where we visited family and the caverns. When I think of NM I think of Carlsbad Caverns and Turquoise jewelry. Although I also think about those amazing Burritos sigh.

I lived in New Mexico for two years, so I remember my time in school when I was there and all the things I saw and learned out there!! I miss it!

The first things that come to mind are Roswell, the X-Files, the Apache, Pueblo and Navajo, and Santa Fe. I have never been there but would love to visit. It just seems like a place with such rich and vibrant history, culture and cuisines.

I've never been, and it makes me think of deserts. That might be the most stereotypical thing ever, but it's all I've got.

I have driven through New Mexico several times (going from FL to CA and vice versa) but I think I only stayed overnight maybe once. I think of Roswell!

I have not been! But the first thing I think of is these books I recently read, which were set there: Someone Else's Fairytale and Nobody's Damsel.

I live in Florida and haven't had the opportunity to travel that far. I'd say I initially think of heat and dry, cracked ground for some reason. (Maybe a tumbleweed or two also)

I haven't been to NM, but I would love to go to Sante Fe. Aside from the southwestern architecture, I (sadly) think of Julia Roberts who did or still does live in Taos.
