Ever since I set eyes on the cover for ALL OUR YESTERDAYS, I knew I had to have it in my hands. I’m excited to have the author, Cristin Terrill here for an interview with us! Read on.
Yes, the idea was sparked by watching The Terminator late one night on cable and wondering what it would be like if the killer robot from the future was the good guy (and a teenage girl).
IceyBooks: Do you have a favorite line that was removed from the original draft of ALL OUR YESTERDAYS?
Cristin Terrill:Hmm, most of the revisions I did were about adding things, not cutting them (I added over 20K between my first draft and the final book), so nothing comes immediately to mind. I did write the original draft in the third person instead of the dual first person narration the book has now, so maybe there was some poetic piece of description that got the ax because neither of my characters would have ever thought it.
IceyBooks: Tell us a little bit about your journey to signing with your agent.
Cristin Terrill: My agent journey was pretty unusual. I had a blog that I kept for fun that had very little to do with writing, and at some point I wrote something (I don’t even remember what now) that my agent Diana Fox ran across. She would leave me comments occasionally, and I had no idea she was an agent until I started blogging about this novel project I was working on as a Christmas present for my mother. Diana then outed herself to me and invited me to send her the manuscript when it was done. I was shocked. I’d had zero intention of pursuing publication, but it was such a great opportunity that I sent it to her. The book was terrible, but for some reason she asked me to send her whatever I wrote next. About a year later, I did, and she became my agent.
IceyBooks: If you could dye your hair any color, what color would you choose and why?
Cristin Terrill: I’ve never really put any thought into this before! Maybe blue hair to bring out my blue eyes?
IceyBooks: Give us the three:
-Movie you can’t wait to see:
Cristin Terrill: Catching Fire, the new X-Men, and Veronica Mars
IceyBooks: Snack you’re craving right now:
Cristin Terrill: Nothing at the moment, but my go-to snacks are probably cereal, apples and peanut butter, and yogurt with granola. I could probably live exclusively on those things.
IceyBooks: Book you can’t wait to read:
Cristin Terrill:The next Raven Boys book, Suzanne Collins’ new YA, and Lauren Oliver’s new novel Panic.

“You have to kill him.” Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.
Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.
Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.
