Other Worldly Books and Other Wordly GIFs

Posted by on September 28, 2013

Good morning mortal beings. If you have a problem with being called a mortal, then I suggest you leave.

For those brave mortals that have remained, salutations. Enjoy my post.

We have all heard about the brilliant series of Harry Potter and Mortal Instruments, but alas those are the only series we all now where the mortal realm collides with another. Today I bring to you books where a fantasy realm clashes with the mortal realm. And sadly there are not many.

Harry Potter

HARRY POTTER by J.K. Rowling
Yes, yes, the famous Harry Potter. You muggles know all about him don’t you? This is after all the most famous story where the world of magic clashes with your realm.

Mortal Instruments

Another book you mortals know all about, correct? With their fancy covers and lovely names.

And, sadly, these also happen to be the only books I know of. I have searched but have come across none. I have only found truck-loads of mythology, another wonderful genre.

This is me when I realize the rather low amount of books you mortals have written:

Are there any books that you know of? What did I miss, mortal? I am dying to hear your response.

  1. The Gathering Dark by Christine Johnson mooshed worlds together. They split open seams in the universe and scuttled all over the place. Also The 13th Reality by James Dashner and The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg (that one’s title exhausts me). I like your GIFs!!

  2. I think Percy Jackson could count as an Other Worldly Book. There is a whole kingdom of Greek Gods and they do have awesome abilities. I’m still shocked at the lacking amount of other worldly books! Thanks for sharing :)

  3. I know you’ve covered the mortal instruments but what about Cassandra clare’s other series; the infernal devices. Aside from that I can think of lord of the rings…name of the wind by Patrick rothfuss..

  4. There are the Wicked Lovely books by Melissa Marr, of the fairie (I don’t remember how she spelled it…) world being intertwined with the human world. There are the House of Night books, where vampire exist in the human world, which also applies to the Blue Bloods books. What exactly do you mean by the two world colliding? Because that could be the His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman too……

    1. Hey! I was talking about books where the fantasy realm somehow affected the live of mortals, and like that. It seems that there are more books in that genre than I thought :)
