Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy Movie Trailer Plus Giveaway

Posted by on January 17, 2014

Sometimes, I feel like the only person who hasn’t read certain bestsellers. Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead, just so happens to be one of those series. I do know how addicting her books are, because I’ve read BLOODLINES (yes, I know, I’m not reading them in order). Given the fact that Vampire Academy debuts as a movie this year – I’m all the more excited to get my hands on the series.

The excitement is continuing to build for the film adaptation of Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series as the Valentine’s Day release date draws closer! The director of Mean Girls and the writer of Heathers are the force behind this adaptation of book 1 of author Richelle Mead’s #1 international bestselling series. The books are published in over 30 countries and have sold 8 million copies in the US alone.

In a school of mortal Moroi vampires, their Dhampir bodyguards must guard them from threats both near and far, from evil and immortal Strigoi vampires to vicious classmates and high school politics. One of those high school threats can be seen in the latest movie clip.

Rose, Richelle Mead’s beloved half vampire/half human protagonist, is not Bella, Buffy, or Elena or a facsimile of other popular YA characters. She’s a profoundly strong, sometimes out of control, defender of her best friend Lissa. And the core of the Vampire Academy series is that friendship.

The film adaptation of Vampire Academy is the next cultural phenomenon and thanks to Penguin and Sullivan & Partners, I have an exclusive giveaway of Vampire Academy in celebration of the upcoming film adaptation next month! You can enjoy the first book in the series before you see the movie and relive the exciting story of Rose and Lissa’s friendship and their dangerous adventures.

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school–it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s–the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.

  1. VA was one of those series that I finally gave into the hype for, and loved! Now I’m totally I HEART VA! Hope you get to read it soon, Hafsah!

I will admit that I wasn’t keen to see he movie. To me (from seeing the movie adaptation book cover), they turned something fantasy like and gothic into something the 12ies will go crazy over – sorta childish, and corny. Bur from seeing the trailer, the movie doesn’t look to bad. I hope that the movie lives up to my expectations!

  2. I recently just bought the books. I’m looking forward to starting this series, even more so now with the movie coming out.

  3. I’ve been collecting the books in the series, which means it’s in my TBR pile. Unfortunately, that’s a pretty big pile.

  4. I’ve read the entire series-loved it!! Richelle is an amazing writer and author. I recently finished The Fiery Heart, from the Bloodlines novels. I’m going to be so sad when these books end-I’m so attached to the characters. :(

  5. You’re not the only one. In fact, I’m closer to finishing the Bloodlines series than I am with the Vampire Academy series. >: So, yeah, I’d love to read the first book eventually, haha.

  6. I haven’t read this series yet, either. I’ll be honest…I got a little burnt out on YA vampire books for awhile. But I’m ready to get back on that horse now! :) Excited to read this – the movie looks really fun.

  7. I have read them and think they’re my favourite series! I absolutely love the world Richelle has created! It’s so incredible!

  8. This series, OH THIS SERIES!!! This was one where I borrowed the first two books from a friend and as soon as I read those, I bought the next and the next until I’d read them ALL in just a few days! And yes, Bloodlines? SO GOOD! I own all the VA books so I’m not entering this giveaway, HOWEVER I jumped at the opportunity to rant about how I much I love these books, and I am STOKED for the movie!

  9. I’ve had this book on my to-read list for ages and had no idea they were making a movie. It looks really good and now it’ll be the next series on my list after I finish The Iron Fey series :)

  10. I can honestly say I’ve read all of them. I loved it! Dimitri is downright sexy and Adrian is very funny.
I’m really looking forward to the movie. However, I don’t find Dimitri that attractive in the trailer. He’s goodlooking, but not really sexy. What surprised me even more is the fact that I found Christian hotter! Dominic Sherwood is so HOT!! My God, I get soaked even thinking about him. And the heterochromia…. he’s perfect.
All in all, I want to see the movie, but I don’t think Dimitri is cast right. Sorry.

  11. My friends are obsessed with Vampire Academy and the trailer looks ace. Really excited to see the film when it’s out in the UK!:3
